 WSU Holds Spring 2012 Commencement

More than 1,200 students will participate in the WSU Spring 2012 Commencement ceremonies May 4.
More than 1,200 students will participate in the Winona State University Spring 2012 Commencement ceremonies Friday, May 4, in McCown Gymnasium in Memorial Hall on the Winona campus. 

The morning ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. and include the College of Business and the College of Liberal Arts. The afternoon ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. and include the College of Education, the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and the College of Science and Engineering.

Doors open one hour prior to each ceremony.

A reception will be held following each ceremony at the pavilion near the Alumni Gazebo in the center of campus (rain location: Talbot Gymnasium, Memorial Hall). 

The guest speaker for Spring 2012 Commencement is Steven Rosenstone, Chancellor for Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. Rosenstone is responsible for providing academic leadership to the system's 31 colleges and universities, and planning for the current and long-term educational needs of Minnesota.

The comments of a graduating student are featured as part of each Winona State Commencement ceremony. Alex Kautza, from Antigo, Wis., will be the student speaker for the morning ceremony. Kautza will graduate with degrees in Spanish and economics. Rebecca Tabbert, from Inver Grove Heights, Minn., will be the student speaker for the afternoon ceremony. Tabbert will graduate with a degree in composite materials engineering. 

Heather Cichy, a communication studies major from Greendale, Wis.; and Michael Glowczewski, a communication studies/Spanish major from Winona, will introduce the degree candidates.

The Spring 2012 Commencement ceremonies are open to the public. There are no tickets for this event. Seating is first come, first served.
