Connie J. Gores, vice president for student life and development at Winona State University, has been appointed interim president effective immediately. Gores will serve as interim president until president-elect Scott R. Olson begins his duties July 16, 2012. Olson was named WSU's 15th president by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees May 16. He replaces Judith A. Ramaley, who served as WSU president from 2005-2012.
Gores has held her current position since 2007. She has done extensive work in enrollment management, program and curriculum development, admissions, and residential life. Her work helps enhance the quality of student life and learning by more fully engaging students in the university. She holds a bachelor’s degree from North Dakota State University, a master’s degree from Colorado State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington.
Commenting on Gores’ appointment, MnSCU Chancellor Steven Rosenstone said, “I am confident that Dr. Gores will work effectively with president-elect Olson over the weeks ahead to ensure a smooth transition in leadership.”
