WINONA, Minn. – Winona State University students Chase Lundstrom, Parbati Sanjel and Tauseef Hemayet of "The Miracle Workers" took second place in the final round in the software design category of Microsoft's Imagine Cup Project. The team can still advance to the international competition if they receive enough votes in the People’s Choice online competition. Two of the four remaining U.S. teams will advance to the world finals in July in Sydney, Australia.
The team has designed a sleeping pad for infants to help prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other respiratory diseases. The sleeping pad monitors the infant's heartbeat, breathing and movement, sending the data to a PC which in turn sends alerts via a Windows Phone application using Microsoft Visual Studio.
