 WSU Appoints Interim Dean for the College of Science and Engineering

Dr. Charla Miertschin has been appointed interim dean of the College of Science and Engineering, effective July 1.
Dr. Miertschin began her career at Winona State in 1993 and has served as chairperson for the chemistry department since 2004. Prior to coming to WSU, Dr. Miertschin was a postdoctoral research fellow with professor Michael P. Doyle at Trinity University, and a teaching assistant and research fellow at Texas A&M University. She received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Abilene Christian University and her Ph.D. in chemistry from Texas A&M University.

The College of Science and Engineering is committed to furthering 21st Century advances in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by inspiring the next generation of innovators and teachers and by promoting research and scholarship across STEM disciplines. Through a broad range of major, minor, and pre-professional programs, as well as through basic skills, interdisciplinary, and research-rich learning environments, the college endeavors to ensure the success of all students.
